For Vialis, a customized application has been developed: ReQuest – smart, secure, and sustainable on the road. With the ReQuest app, transporters, distributors, and logistics service providers can safely, quickly, and sustainably navigate their routes with minimal hindrances.

By putting the driver at the center, both the logistics service provider and the government can achieve their safety and sustainability objectives by regulating flow and availability.

PLAN
DESIGN PHASE.

For almost a hundred years, Vialis has been working in the field of infrastructure and mobility. Municipalities and road authorities are increasingly requesting support in achieving sustainability, traffic flow, and safety goals. ReQuest seamlessly aligns with this.

Residents benefit from cleaner air, increased safety at intersections, and less noise from accelerating and decelerating trucks. Road authorities have an additional tool with ReQuest to effectively and sustainably guide trucks through a city.

To make the right digitalization efforts, we went through sprint 0 together. Recognize and examined the process of freight transport.

Furthermore, the desire was to keep the app as simple as possible because it would be used by drivers. With all the findings, Recognize got to work. The idea? An app that intelligently prioritizes the right traffic flows.

By investing in ReQuest, carriers contribute to a better environment. This has a positive effect on the image of the logistics sector. Moreover, the costs of a journey decrease due to time savings, reduced fuel consumption, less wear on braking systems, and a lower risk of accidents or fines by just driving through red lights. These savings are visible in a linked desktop application.

BUILD
DEVELOPMENT PHASE.

Every two weeks, the scrum team delivered a small part of the application. Vialis and Recognize had contact during each sprint to align all developments properly.

The development of the new ReQuest app also followed the agile methodology. The tasks were executed in sprints of two weeks by our team, which consisted of a back-end developer, a UX/UI Designer, a front-end developer, and a full-stack developer.

During the development phase, careful attention was paid to what specific functionalities would deliver and the efforts required to realize them.

In this way, we develop cost-efficiently and a lot of value could be created quickly. This also benefits the adoption of the application.

After intensive collaboration, it was finally time; the ReQuest app is going live! In the ReQuest app, when the situation allows it, trucks and logistics service providers with ReQuest will receive green lights earlier at a traffic light.

To get green lights earlier at intersections, the driver enters his destination via the ReQuest app on a mobile phone.

RUN
MANAGEMENT PHASE.

This version of ReQuest is a minimum viable product, a functioning product that does what it needs to do and will be further expanded with new features.

Especially the improvement of traffic safety will become an integral part of the system. To quickly and easily provide the technology, it currently works with an app. A connection with the truck’s onboard computer is planned for the future. The priority now is requesting priority for the truck.
