How can we better manage and support the technicians? Utilio approached Recognize with this question. Through sprint 0, all possibilities were explored. The idea was presented by Recognize’s scrum team: a customized platform.

The platform consists of an application and an administration system. During the development phase, attention was paid to user-friendliness, allowing both clients and technicians to efficiently schedule appointments, process quotes, and automate invoicing.

PLAN
DESIGN PHASE.

Utilio, part of VolkerWessels Telecom, has the desire to better support the self-employed contractors who work for them. The initiative comes directly from the business of VolkerWessels Telecom and the idea has been around for a long time. How can we better manage and support our contractors?

The collaboration was kicked off with a sprint 0. In this phase, everything was built from scratch. What are the objectives? Who is the target audience? What do we want to develop and what is the minimum requirement for that? All possibilities were explored.

Contractors should be able to retain control and autonomy, but there should also be quick communication between the client and the contractor. Additionally, the service provided to the end customer needs to be improved. All findings were worked out and the Recognize team presented the digital solution. An app and portal for both the client and the contractor with real-time information, including a website and associated branding.

BUILD
DEVELOPMENT PHASE.

The scrum team of Recognize built a custom platform. They developed an application in which the assignments of the clients can be coordinated based on the location and availability of the technicians. Additionally, supply and demand were taken into account, and user-friendliness was highly valued during the development of the app.

Secondly, a web portal was developed for administrators to enter various values. These values, for example, serve as the basis for an assignment or as information for the end customer. All output is generated from a white-label system so that end customers can see that it originates from a specific client and so that the clients can quickly create orders. Furthermore, the client can see which technician has accepted a certain assignment.

The technicians experience user-friendliness as they can find all the information in the application. It contains assignments that they can claim, all the information related to the assignment, and also automatically processes the invoicing.

MANAGEMENT PHASE.

The moment has arrived; Utilo goes live! After intensive collaboration during which a lot of knowledge has been gained about the market, the digital solution is actively being used. In this phase, Recognize proactively maintains the developed solution.
